FAQ

Common questions from throwers, parents, and coaches.

Throwing shoes are already made for concrete circles. Why do I need a cover?

Throwing circles are abrasive but designed for grip — your outsole is engineered for that surface. Parking lots, bleachers, and indoor hallways wear the rubber pattern differently and prematurely, especially the forefoot pivot point you need for rotation.

Can't I just change shoes at meets?

Yes — and most throwers hate juggling two pairs at a chaotic meet. A slip-on cover takes 10 seconds and keeps your competition shoes on your feet between warm-up and the ring.

Can I throw in ThrowShield covers?

No. ThrowShield is walk-only, same as spike covers. Slip them off before you enter the circle.

Will spike covers work on my throwing shoes?

No. Rotational throwing shoes have flat rubber soles, not spike plates. Spike covers are shaped for pins and won't fit or protect a throwing outsole.

Which throwing shoes does ThrowShield fit?

We're designing for the most popular rotational models: PUMA evoSPEED Throw, Nike Zoom Rotational, Adidas Adizero Throws, ASICS Throw Pro, and TrackSpikes Hyper/Sonic. Tell us your model on the waitlist so we prioritize fit.

What about javelin boots?

ThrowShield v1 is built for rotational shoes (shot put, discus, hammer). Javelin boots have spikes and need a different design — that's on our roadmap.

How much will ThrowShield cost?

Target price is $39–49 for a single pair, with a two-pair bundle at $69–79. Waitlist members get first access and launch pricing.

When will ThrowShield ship?

We're validating demand now. Once we hit our waitlist goal and finish prototyping, we'll open preorders with a clear ship date. Join the waitlist to be first in line.
